Katie Demain established Empower Coaching in 2006. She has been described as 'an inspirational trainer', 'extremely effective', and Jeremy Vine has complimented her as being 'brilliant'. She often speaks on regional and national radio.
She has British and French business degrees from The European Partnership of Business Schools. Her career prior to coaching drew on her business, languages and consulting background gaining her exposure to a wide range of industries. Katie spent a number of years in publishing, leading teams to different countries around the world; from Moscow to Mexico; from New York to Nigeria; from Seville to Sri Lanka; etc. in which she was in the privileged position to interview and work with presidents, prime ministers, ministers and top entrepreneurs and to gain insight into their drive and vision for a better future for their countries, their companies and themselves. These reports were distributed by The Sunday Times, The Sunday Observer, The Economist, BusinessWeek, Le Monde, Paris Match, USA Today, Investors' Chronicle, etc. In 1999, Katie held a key position in organising HM Queen Elizabeth’s State Visit to Ghana, liaising between Buckingham Palace and the Government of Ghana.
Katie has studied coaching on two levels at The Coaching Academy, the U.K.'s premier coach training organisation and the largest in Europe. She qualified with a Distinction in Personal Performance Coaching as well as with a Distinction in Corporate & Executive Coaching. Katie also has Diplomas and Certificates in Advanced Stress Management, Confidence Coaching, the Alexander Technique, Lifestyle Enhancement and has followed courses on Cross-Cultural Competence, Emotional Intelligence, adding to Katie's interpersonal skills and ability to work with companies on a wide range of issues. Katie is currently studying for certification in NLP.
Katie's special interest in expatriation is an obvious area in which she is able to apply her coaching skills, having lived in 11 different countries over the past 17 years. Katie uses her life experiences as an expatriated project director, then expat wife and expat mother to help her clients find effective ways to deal with culture shock, communications difficulties, dealing with crises, establishing authentic business and social networks and enhancing community involvement.
Katie is the Founding Member and Chairperson of the Thames Valley Coaching Network, founded in 2007, which offers continuing professional development and support to the coaching community in the Thames Valley and has as its mission to raise the profile of coaching to a wider audience in the region.
Katie is a member of the International Coaching Federation [ICF].
Katie is a gifted classical musician and linguist. She is married and has two young children.
